Complete surface preparation and protective coating of process piping and elevated catwalks inside an active industrial facility. To minimize downtime, work was performed during nights and weekends while the plant remained operational.

The project included masking sensitive electrical equipment, pressure washing, SSPC-SP10 near-white abrasive blast cleaning and a three-coat high-solids coating system.

Complete SSPC-SP6 commercial blast cleaning and protective coatings of two 30,000-gallon propane storage tanks. Existing coating was removed before applying a high-solids epoxy primer and durable polyurethane topcoat. Associated piping and bollards were prepared to SSPC-SP3 power tool standards, solvent cleaned and coated with the same high-performance coating system.

Worked with the customer's engineering team to select a coating system designed for the facility's chemical exposure requirements. The project included CSP-6 abrasive blast preparation, repair of cracks and penetrations, installation of a vapor barrier and application of a high-performance chemical-resistant lining system.

Following an regulatory compliance notice, the customer had 30 days to restore or replace the well house piping system. Viper completed SSPC-SP3 power tool preparation, solvent cleaning and epoxy coating system. Raw water piping was color coded olive green, while potable water piping was finished in dark blue to meet facility standards.

The project was completed on an accelerated schedule, helping the customer avoid replacement costs, minimize downtime and return the system to service before the compliance deadlines.

Complete pressure washing removed surface salts and contaminants prior to SSPC-SP6 commercial abrasive blast cleaning. A 3.5 mil surface profile was prepared for application of a two-coat high-build epoxy coating system. To minimize disruption to plant operations and allow truck traffic to continue through the work area, the coating system was applied by brush and roller where appropriate.

Structural steel was pressure washed and abrasive blasted to SSPC-SP6 commercial standards before application of two-coat high-solids epoxy coating system. The steel was coated prior to construction of the enclosure, ensuring complete corrosion protection in a highly corrosive commodities environment simplifying future maintenance.
